Versatile Project Experience
I have worked on a diverse range of projects, including large-scale initiatives for government organizations to smaller brochure sites for businesses across different industries. This exposure has honed my adaptability and equipped me with the skills to tackle various challenges effectively.
CMS and E-commerce Platforms
I possess a sound understanding of Content Management System (CMS) platforms, such as WordPress, Joomla, Ghost etc. Additionally, I have hands-on experience with popular e-commerce solutions like Shopify, Gumtree and Printful (merchandising) etc. I've also gained some exposure to Learning Management Systems such as Moodle.
AI-Powered Design Research
As an experienced developer, I had 'a crack' at utilizing AI to create a graphical user interface (GUI) from scratch, utilizing AI as an aid in the development process.
I have also extensively used AI for cross-referencing research, streamlining my workflows and improving the accuracy of my work. Currently, I am testing various chat-bots and machine learning platforms,
including Streamlit, Gradio, and other Python tools. With a view to deploying an AI historical research function into my web site.
In addition, I have tested several open-source chat-bots, such as ChatGPT, H2O~GPT, POE, LLama, and Claude, to evaluate their capabilities for other potential applications. When the need arises, I also
participate in beta testing open-source projects to contribute to their development and improvement.
Servers & Home Labs
I have a strong foundation in managing Virtual Private Servers (VPS), with a focus on optimizing performance, security, and reliability. My experience includes monitoring server resources, troubleshooting
issues, and implementing best practices for server hardening. Additionally, I have a well-equipped home lab setup that enables me to experiment with various technologies and stay current with the latest
industry trends.
I have also gained practical experience in cyber-security through attending workshops on ethical hacking and network security. In the past, I was responsible for monitoring servers for an organization I
worked for, and I also created a secure LAN network for internal company use.
3D Design & Development
Over the past 20 years, I have worked with various 3D design software applications, starting with Soft Image to 3D Studio Max and eventually transitioning to Blender. Throughout this time, I have come to
appreciate the versatility and power that 3D brings to the world of design.
For a few years I deviated from standard web & graphic design and spent few years designing various homes and industrial structures for Home Hardware, using Chief Architect and Sketchup.
Bitcoin & Blockchain
Containerization
I have hands-on experience with Docker and Podman, containerization platforms that enable developers to package, ship, and run applications in containers. My skills include creating and managing Docker images, working with Docker-files, and utilizing Docker Compose and Docker Swarm for container orchestration, principally via PORTAINER.IO.
I understand the benefits of using Docker, such as improved application isolation (security), portability, and scalability.
Cloud Services
I have a solid understanding of various cloud services. My experience includes deploying and managing virtual machines, configuring cloud storage, and implementing security measures such as access controls, firewalls and encryption. I am also familiar with cloud computing concepts, such as scalability, availability, and security.
Augmented Reality & Historical Interpretation.
“The use of AR in historical interpretation has the potential to transform the way we experience and understand the past.”
Having carried out a few years of research and a made small investment in Augmented Reality.
I am genuinely excited about its potential for historical visitor interpretation. Unlike Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality offers limitless possibilities, particularly in the fields of historical and
environmental interpretation...having quite a bit of experience in the latter also! That said, I see ample scope for leveraging Augmented Reality to enhance visitor experiences in many sectors.
COMMITMENT & Integrity.
I am committed to maintaining the highest level of integrity and transparency in all my professional interactions. I believe in fostering open and honest communication, actively listening to others, and being approachable and respectful in all my collaborations.
I work well in teams and value the input of all partners and strive to build trust and credibility in every project I undertake. Cheers David x

Park Warden:Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park
First as an assistant and then park warden, I had the pleasure of watching this former industrial site/landfill site transform into a thriving haven for wildlife. The main lake, which was once a clay pit, is
now home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, attracting many visiting species of birds which, we monitored closely.
I have personally planted 1000's of trees and hedging plants. Oversaw the planting of tens of thousands more with the generous help of volunteers and local prisoners/parolees.
HM Armed Forces:
Royal Artillery.
I spent 5 years in the Royal Artillery as part of the 1st Armoured Division of the British Army On the Rhine or BAOR in what was old West Germany. This was before the Berlin Wall fell and Germany re-unified
for the first time since the end of WWII. Before that it was communist East Germany, armed guards and a very big fence...to keep the population in!
I was a 'gunner' for a few years before switching to reconnaissance and communications. If you need a 50' communications tower erected in the pitch black of night, I'm your man!
